From Hull to Reading! Their recent single ‘GOGOGO’ was playlisted by XFM, handpicked by Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music, championed by Huw Stevens on Radio 1 and featured on the tele via Made In Chelsea. This ResQ agent tells us about the whirlwind of being in his band LIFE, and playing the stage at this year’s Leeds and Reading festival. Starting out behind Adelphi club and now storming the stages of one of the biggest festivals in the country, Mick Sanders, guitar player, tells us more.
Yes, we were lucky to play both. A while ago, we sent in our stuff to Radio Humberside who are involved in a music programme called BBC Introducing, where they find bands and artists from all around the UK, and showcase them, like ourselves at these festivals. They had their own stage at Reading and Leeds, which hosted a number of artists. We were the only ones from Hull.
It was, we played Reading on the Friday and then at 5 in the morning had to travel up to Leeds for the next set. It was quite tiring.
It was ace. I was obviously nervous, but very excited to play. We’ve played big shows before, but nothing like Reading and Leeds. It was a pretty big deal.
Well the signer, Mez is my brother and we had been in different bands for a while, and we decided to create LIFE with two of our best mates, Loz on bass and Stu on drums, and it just started from there. We started out by practicing in a shed behind Adelphi, which was interesting and did a number of gigs and we’ve been going for 3 years now.
We have a few shows coming up in London and around the UK including trinity festival. We had another gig with BBC Introducing down in Wales for an event named SWN. We’re also working on our next EP called ‘I KNEW I WAS A RAT’.
