Aimee Dixon

Describe your leadership style in three words.

Determined, competitive and very sarcastic.

What piece of advice would you give to a new starter at ResQ?

It’s tough when you’re finding your feet but don’t be shy! Ask for help. We are all really friendly and want you to do well!

Which fictional character is your leadership spirit animal? And why?

Remy from ratatouille because his personality is idealistic, clever, and determined. Despite the obstacles, Remy demonstrates over and over again that he is willing to put his life on the line if it means getting closer to fulfilling his dream. (apart from the fact I’m a girl and I’m not a rat haha)

What is your favourite motivational quote?

The harder you work for something, the greater you’ll feel when you achieve it.

What are your career aspirations or next steps and how are ResQ supporting you?

I’ve just finished my Team leader qualification, and I’m looking to strengthen my skills to progress further within ResQ. This year I have been placed on 2 brand new campaigns with a lot of potential growth to help me develop my skills by getting involved in client calls and helping me become more operationally aware.

What is your favourite motivational quote?

It doesn’t matter how slowly you go as long as you don’t stop.

What do you like most about your role as a Team Leader at ResQ?

I enjoy being someone who can support others, someone that people can look to for advice and help (work-related mostly but sometimes personally too). Having been an agent at ResQ for 3 years before becoming a TL, I feel I can relate to the agents and enjoy working with them with that in mind.

Which fictional character is your leadership spirit animal? And why?

So, after taking a quiz to see what my spirit animal is I find out I am a Butterfly! Moving on from that and taking it to a fictional character, I am Butterbear! Google this thing, its cute!

I agree with the reasons for my spirit animal being a Butterfly, as I like to be free, adventurous and full of energy (most of the time). I also embrace change and strive to make things in life better even if that means change. ALSO, who doesn’t like butterflies? They’re beautiful and I have wings too LOL!

This is ResQ’s Year of the Team Leader. What are you most looking forward to doing or learning?

I look forward to continuing my journey as a TL. I have learned so much and probably learn something new every other day. So I guess learning more, about my campaign and ResQ. Last year I was made a Senior TL, if I am honest at first I just thought ‘wooooohh, better title and a few more quid!’ but I soon realised there was much more responsibility and expectation, all of that I enjoy and want to continue to get better at being that person/role.

What are your career aspirations or next steps and how are ResQ supporting you?

Hmm, I wouldn’t mind having Gill’s car? LOL

No, seriously. I know that I have already achieved so much within ResQ, I want to work hard to be the best I can be and when that next step comes along I will push for it and prove I am the best person for it.

ResQ has always supported me in whichever role, whether that be an Agent, Coach, Team Leader or Senior Team Leader. I know that I have a strong team around me and by that I mean above, below and by my side. I am comfortable knowing I can go to many people within that organisation and ask for help and support.

What do you like most about your role as a Team Leader at ResQ?

The people! Cliché but working at ResQ definitely wouldn’t be the same without the huge personalities and family vibes. Love it.

What piece of advice would you give to a new starter at ResQ?

Breath! I think other call centres/jobs must be instilling so much pressure on people as they come in and panic instantly – we are lucky that we have the support from several other teams. Trainers, QA, Coaches to mention a few. Oh, also I’d tell them that Mandy’s paninis are unbelievable! 😊

What is your pet peeve at work?

Jamie Rugg has to be top of the list. He’s annoying! Where did you find that guy?

What is your favourite motivational quote?

Find out who you are and do it on purpose!

What are your career aspirations or next steps and how are ResQ supporting you?

I was given the opportunity to do an equivalent of an A level in management through ResQ, I’ve been doing this for over a year now alongside my TL role. That is near to completion now and have learnt a lot! What’s next? Who knows? A desk next to Matt and Gill? HAHA. I think I’ll take each day and opportunity as it comes.. knowledge is power and all that 😉

This is ResQ’s Year of the Team Leader. What are you most looking forward to doing or learning?

I’m looking forward to growth, we have big plans for this year’s expansion on inbound and I’m looking forward to playing a key role in it. I also am looking forward to learning as a team leader you are learning every day.

What is your pet peeve at work?

People asking for help and not taking it on board

Which fictional character is your leadership spirit animal? And why?

Baloo from jungle book – laid-back, fun-loving, and more caring than he lets on. Baloo believes the best way to live life is to take care of the bare necessities and forget about worry or strife. At first glance, he might seem lazy, immature, or even a little selfish. But beneath his carefree exterior, Baloo has a huge heart.

What’s the most bizarre piece of leadership advice you’ve ever received?

Sometimes you must be cruel to be kind, you cannot always be everybody’s best friend.

What piece of advice would you give to a new starter at ResQ?

Be a Sponge! Absorb every bit of knowledge and information you can. Be patient at times not everything happens overnight.

What are your career aspirations or next steps and how are ResQ supporting you?

I would like to progress further – I am new to the team leader role so I still have things to learn but ResQ and my team support me with everything I do, they give me roles and responsibilities to make reaching my goal possible. I often get set an area of the campaigns KPI’s to champion and seek improvements so I can add value and then often change this, so I am improving and broadening my knowledge on each area of the campaign.

Continue to set the standard, demolish targets and spread success like a virus.

What is your pet peeve at work?

Sudo listening or running out of coffee!

Which fictional character is your leadership spirit animal? And why?

Iron Man, Turn’s negative to positive and is a natural problem solver… Not only that he does it with style.

What’s the most bizarre piece of leadership advice you’ve ever received?

Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want to be done because he wants to do it…

What piece of advice would you give to a new starter at ResQ?

Enjoy, embrace and put your personality into your performance. Never stop asking questions and soak up knowledge like a sponge.

What are your career aspirations or next steps and how are ResQ supporting you?

To make a difference! We are privileged to be working with so many different people with different backgrounds. We have the ability to change lives not just in work but to develop social and personal skills too. ResQ gives me the opportunity and freedom to implement all of this.
